Who They Are

The Manitoba College Social Workers (MCSW) is the provincial body that regulates the profession of social work in Manitoba. MCSW offers leadership in promoting the excellence of its members in their provision of social work services to the public.

A past ViewSource Media acquaintance now, working with MCSW, asked “Do you do logos?” A question like that gets a quick response - yes - but also opens up a dialogue that involves more than just logo art. To ensure that we produce a logo that works well for the client we need to know two crucial things – what image do they want to project to their audience and, how will it be used down the road.

After some dialogue with the client we realized they needed not just a logo, but a full brand package for a wide variety of materials.

Our Solution

The branding process involves a lot of creative energy to develop an identity that is distinct, recognizable, memorable and represents their desired image.

It takes a lot of effort to get it just right! We went through various designs in-house before settling on something to show the client. In this case, we think we hit all of the necessary qualities for a great brand, and the client agrees!  

Once the design is set there is always a lot of work to implement that design into all of the marketing and informational materials. These included many different printed pieces, indoor and outdoor signage, a website - which is a prominent resource for their membership, an online eLearning program, and several promotional items for their members.

The printed materials required us to set a distinct style that was both creative and professional for all items sent out to the college membership. The look we decided on has a clean and formal style but it’s enhanced by the vibrant colours making it more visually appealing.

It was a big job but producing the entire package ensured a very nice and, very consistent look, a key element in making the brand work well for our client.

Production of print materials, signage, the website and all of the promotional items fell nicely into standards we set in the brand package, including a unique element required by the college – an MCSW eLearning application.

We took the Ethics and Standards material provided by MCSW and translated it into a modular, online workshop. Existing members work through 12 modules answering practice scenarios and completing quizzes. Once the member has completed the workshop they receive a digital certificate. We used MCSW’s new branding throughout the eLearning application while making sure it is completely mobile friendly on a laptop, tablet or smart phone.

The interactivity between the college and their membership has been a real success that greatly enhances the MCSW role in certifying members around the province.

Consistent branding for all interaction with members! By ensuring consistency in MCSW materials, the membership develops a stronger relationship with the college. This benefits both parties in their efforts, now and in the future.
